Mandatory meals do not meet usda nutrition standards and exemptions for medical reasons are not offered. The person who makes substitutions for diabetics and others with special dietary needs is the building manager, who is not a nutritionist. There is no yearly certification of the menu by a registered dietician on nutritionist. Paying for the mandatory meal program is a condition of of living at missoula manor. A resident has the option of paying with their snap benefits or cash. Either way, the program takes away $200 dollars that could have been spent on healthy food. In my case, it's 22% of my income in addition to the 30% for rent.
