Donner Lofts is a mixed-use development that combines workforce efficiency studios and 1-bedroom apartments with ground-floor commercial retail space in downtown San Jose. Twenty units are reserved for the formerly homeless who receive extensive supportive services. Donner Lofts started construction in late 2014 and welcomed residents in summer 2016. Donner Lofts transforms a blighted corner lot near City Hall into high-quality housing and retail shops that enhance the neighborhood. The communitys well-appointed apartments provide stable homes that are affordable to its residents many of whom hold jobs that are critically important to a thriving downtown community. Residents of Donner Lofts receive a full suite of on site amenities as well as robust services and programs, coordinated by MidPen Services in collaboration with the Santa Clara County Department of Behavioral Health Services.

Qualifications: Do you qualify to live here?
To qualify for low income housing in California, you must meet the following income requirements:

Your household income must be below 80% of the area median income (AMI). The AMI is updated annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and varies by county.

You must have a valid Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant.

In addition to the income requirements, you may also need to meet other eligibility requirements, such as:

- You must not have been evicted from any public housing or Section 8 housing in the past three years.
- You must not have any outstanding felony convictions for drug-related offenses.
- You must not be a registered sex offender.
