Osceola County Housing Agency provides housing assistance to low income residents through the management of the areas Housing Choice Voucher Program - Section 8. This program is income based and the eligibility requirements are set by HUD. There may be a waiting list for vouchers and at times the list may close to new applicants due to the overwhelming need for housing assistance and the size of the list. At the time of the lase update of this listing, July 2011 , the HCV Section 8 waiting list was closed. If you are in need of housing assistance in the area please contact the Housing Agency directly to obtain more information about eligibility requirements, availability of vouchers, the status of any waiting lists and their application procedures. 



Tips Before Applying for Low Income Housing
  • 1. Research all of the different low-income housing programs available in your area. There are a variety of federal, state, and local programs that offer low-income housing assistance. Each program has its own eligibility requirements and application process, so it is important to do your research to find the program that is right for you.
  • 2. Get all of your documentation in order: When you apply for low income housing, you will need to provide documentation of your income, assets, and household composition. This documentation may include tax returns, pay stubs, bank statements, and birth certificates.
  • 3. Be careful and accurate on all information provided: Any false or misleading information on your application will most likely result in your disqualification.
  • 4. Waiting Lists: The waiting lists for most, if not all low-income housing programs is long. Do not limit yourself to only apply to one apartment location.

Qualifications: Do you qualify to live here?
To qualify for low income housing in Florida, you must meet the following income requirements:

Your household income must be below 80% of the area median income (AMI). The AMI is updated annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and varies by county.

You must have a valid Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant.

In addition to the income requirements, you may also need to meet other eligibility requirements, such as:

- You must not have been evicted from any public housing or Section 8 housing in the past three years.
- You must not have any outstanding felony convictions for drug-related offenses.
- You must not be a registered sex offender.

      User Response: all waitlist are 2 years or longer. call before you apply because you can submit an application online but you will be wasting 85-150 application fee.

      User Response: central florida is not pet friendly so if you are looking for an apartment or rentals that allow pets their aren't that many.

    I am currently living in upstate ny in income adjusted housing and am looking to relocate to kissimmee fl i am not sure how the whole process works but am looking to move in about 5 to 6 months from now i need information on how to locate income adjusted housing in this area as well as what i would need to do to get on a waiting list for this kind of housing please help me
