Calvary Community Senior Apartments is a HUD Apartment. HUD residents usually pay 30% of their gross income for rent. The rent amount, less approved HUD deductions such as medical and child care expenses, and other allowances, includes a utility allowance. HUD Residents also may choose to pay what is known as flat rent. The HACC works with applicants to determine which rent arrangement is best for them.

Calvary Community is an attractive well-kept,  garden-style apartment community for adults, age 62 or older, and for persons with mobility impairments. Calvary Community has been a housing provider in Columbus since 1989, and we take pride in meeting the housing needs of our older population.

All of the apartment units in our community are subsidized by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Rent is based on 30% of the persons income, less deductions for medical expenses. This amount includes a utility allowance that is deducted.

Each apartment is equipped with a refrigerator/freezer, electric range/oven, carpeting and drapes. All apartments have individually controlled central heating and air. Each resident furnishes his or her own apartment.

Calvary Community includes well-kept grounds, laundry rooms, patio/picnic areas, large activity room/kitchen, Beauty Shop, Service Coordinator, and a caring, ministry-oriented environment.

Our apartments, buildings and grounds are smoke-free except for two patio areas.

Qualifications: Do you qualify to live here?
To qualify for low income housing in Georgia, you must meet the following income requirements:

Your household income must be below 80% of the area median income (AMI). The AMI is updated annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and varies by county.

You must have a valid Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant.

In addition to the income requirements, you may also need to meet other eligibility requirements, such as:

- You must not have been evicted from any public housing or Section 8 housing in the past three years.
- You must not have any outstanding felony convictions for drug-related offenses.
- You must not be a registered sex offender.
