The Mission Of The Pineywoods Home Team Affordable Housing, Inc. Is To Provide Decent, Clean, Safe, And Affordable Housing In East Texas. The Pineywoods Home Team Was Founded In 1996 By Pineywoods Resource Conservation And Development, Inc. Of Nacogdoches, Texas, Through The United States Department Of Agricultural Rural Development And In Conjunction With The Efforts Of Concerned Citizens Of East Texas Who Recognized That The Severe Housing Needs Of Low-Income Residents Of Rural East Texas Were Not Being Addressed That The Severe Housing Needs Of Low-Income Residents Of Rural East Texas Were Not Being Addressed By Any Existing Entity. At Present The Pineywoods Home Team Has The Ability To Serve 31 East Texas Counties And Currently Serves The Following 7 Counties: Angelina, Gregg, Hardin, Nacogdoches, Orange, Rusk, And Tyler To Produce Housing In Those Communities; It Hopes To Add An Additional Needy Community Each Year. The Pineywoods Home Team Was Created With Three Objectives: To Educate Low-Income Persons About Both The Possibilities And The Responsibilities Of Home Ownership; To Assist These Families, Once Educated, Through The Process Of Obtaining Financing For A Home; To Provide Well-Built, Attractive Houses For Purchase By Qualified Buyers. The Pineywoods Home Team Currently Engages In Two Major Activities To Achieve These Three Objectives: Construction Of Affordable Single-Family Housing; Homebuyer Counseling And Training, Both Pre- And Post- Mortgage. This Organization Is The First In East Texas To Provide Both Of These Services In A Coordinated And Systematic Program.

Each program has its own eligibility requirements and application process, so it is important to do your research to find the program that is right for you.
  • 2. Get all of your documentation in order: When you apply for low income housing, you will need to provide documentation of your income, assets, and household composition. This documentation may include tax returns, pay stubs, bank statements, and birth certificates.
  • 3. Be careful and accurate on all information provided: Any false or misleading information on your application will most likely result in your disqualification.
  • 4. Waiting Lists: The waiting lists for most, if not all low-income housing programs is long. Do not limit yourself to only apply to one apartment location.

Qualifications: Do you qualify to live here?
To qualify for low income housing in Texas, you must meet the following income requirements:

Your household income must be below 80% of the area median income (AMI). The AMI is updated annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and varies by county.

You must have a valid Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant.

In addition to the income requirements, you may also need to meet other eligibility requirements, such as:

- You must not have been evicted from any public housing or Section 8 housing in the past three years.
- You must not have any outstanding felony convictions for drug-related offenses.
- You must not be a registered sex offender.
